As AMD Schedules RX 9000 GPUs Launch in March, Reports Suggest NVIDIA has also Delayed the Launch of RTX 5070 GPUs
NVIDIA did take the limelight by unveiling its RTX 50 series GPUs at CES and even though it is launching its higher-end SKUs at the end of this month, the upper mid-range cards may not arrive in the next month. There have been several reports that suggest that there is a big availability problem with RTX 50 GPUs and this is probably due to the miscommunication between NVIDIA and its board partners.
This is not only impacting the availability of RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 cards in various parts of the world but is also supposedly doubling the prices of these cards in some regions. As far as the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 go, they are expected to arrive a month or two later. Benchlife reports that the RTX 5070 Ti will arrive a the end of February and the RTX 5070 in early March. If this report is true, then it’s probably why AMD decided to delay its RX 9000 GPU launch to March.
“On the NVIDIA side, we’ll see the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 go on sale on January 30th, but we can confirm that there isn’t much supply in the market, mainly due to some communication issues between NVIDIA and AIC partners, as well as the Chinese New Year factor, which is expected to improve in February. In addition, we expect to see a GeForce RTX 5070 Ti on the road in mid-to-late February.” – Benchlife
Today, AMD announced that the Radeon RX 9000 GPUs will hit the market in March, which means the launch will coincide with that of the GeForce RTX 5070. As you may be aware of RX 9000 GPUs, the flagship Navi 48-based GPU, RX 9070 XT is said to be AMD’s choice of hardware against RTX 5070. AMD has confirmed this previously and this suggests that AMD is taking its time to plan a proper launch for its RDNA 4 lineup.
The specs, pricing, and performance of the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 are still under embargo but various leaks have already revealed most of the stuff related to the specs and some have given us a sneak peek at their performance. The pricing is yet to be announced and considering that NVIDIA has priced RTX 5070 at $549, AMD must go lower in order to attract the masses, considering that the RX 9070 XT is equivalent to RTX 5070.
If it’s faster, even then AMD will be under pressure to price it equivalent or lower as the market usually leans towards the Green team. We did see a leak previously which showed one of the custom RX 9070 XT retailing for $529, which could mean the reference card could be priced at $499 or even lower. However, such early prices are subject to change and we will have to wait a bit more to see what AMD is bringing to the table.
