Radeon RX 9070 XT Availability to Become Better in Feb in China, More RX 9000 GPUs will Arrive in March

Flagship RDNA 4 GPU is almost here

AMD Radeon RX 9070 Graphics Cards will be Launched at CES but will be Hard to Secure in January

AMD’s RDNA 4 GPU lineup is expected to be unveiled at CES on 7th January but the latest emerging reports suggest that the flagship Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU will probably have poor availability in January for the Chinese market. It isn’t clear whether the availability will be good in other parts of the world but since AMD’s reference design will be the primary one to hit the shelves first, it’s likely that the GPU will also face temporary shortages worldwide.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT is the top-end model with Navi 48 die and is expected to compete with upper mid-range NVIDIA GPUs. As per the report from Board Channels, AMD doesn’t have a ‘clear‘ plan for the Chinese market and the official retail launch isn’t yet decided. It is expected that the reference edition will launch for purchase in February in China and customers will have to wait almost a month after AMD unveils the card at CES.

That said, the AIB editions will also ship around the same time frame and it will be followed by the release of more RDNA 4 GPUs, possibly the Radeon RX 9070 or even lower-end models based on the Navi 44 GPU. No concrete information about the unveiling date of these models has been reported yet. However, the ‘other‘ models the report talks about will be first unveiled in late February, followed by the retail launch in March.

NVIDIA too is expected to reveal its GeForce RTX 5080 card at CES on the 6th of January, but its retail launch will occur on the 21st of January. Hence, AMD will be roughly 10 days late as far as China is concerned but NVIDIA’s board partners may release their custom editions before AMD’s board partners start to roll out their custom RX 9070 editions.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is said to feature 16 GB GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus and will feature a TDP of 260W on the reference design. The GPU will feature up to 3.1 GHz of clock speed but the AIB editions can boast even higher since their TDPs can reach up to 330W. It’s expected that the RX 9070 XT will compete with the RTX 4070 Ti or RTX 4080 but we don’t know how fast it is against NVIDIA’s upcoming mid-range and high-end RTX 50 series GPUs.
