The Claw 8 AI+ and 7 AI+ are the first handhelds to use the Intel Lunar Lake CPUs and will launch a bit later than thought. The handhelds were already unveiled a while ago and both will use almost the same configuration.
MSI Mentions 15th January as the Release and Shipping date for the Claw 7/8 AI+ handhelds
While MSI didn’t send any official press release mentioning the release date for its upcoming gaming handhelds, it’s own product pages have proved that these will be coming next month. A few days ago, it was rumored that the Intel Lunar Lake-based Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ would launch on 25th December, but MSI delayed it by 20 days.
On both handheld pages as visible on the official MSI store for the US, under the description of handhelds, the Release and Shipping date is clearly mentioned as “01/15/2025”. With the purchase, users will get free shipping and will get a 1-year limited warranty. This is right now applicable for the US residents but other NA regions may see the handhelds a few days later.
MSI Claw 8 and 7 AI+ were already listed on various retail stores such as Amazon and Newegg recently but aren’t yet available for shipping at the moment except that you can pre-order those. As far as Newegg is concerned, it has mentioned the date of shipping as 18th January 2025, which is three days later than MSI’s own store. Amazon didn’t reveal any such date and it would probably ship around the same time frame as Newegg.
The Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ both run on the Core Ultra 7 258V processor, which is an 8-core APU with Arc 140V iGPU based on the Xe2 architecture. The Claw 8 AI+ will boast a bigger 8-inch display but the latter will have a 7-inch screen but the same configuration. Another difference is the storage capacity as the Claw 8 AI+ brings 1TB of storage and the 7-inch model comes with 512GB.

These are among the first handhelds to feature the 32GB LPDDR5 memory running at 8533 MT/s and the first to use Lunar Lake chips. The battery life has also increased to 80Wh on the Claw 8 AI+ but the 7-inch iteration will receive the 53Wh battery. Due to this difference, the Claw 8 AI+ is priced at $899 and the Claw 7 AI+ will sell for $799. It will be interesting to see how it will go against the newly launched handhelds such as OneXFly F1 Pro, which rocks the Strix Point APU.
