Windows OS-Based Lenovo Legion Go S to Launch this Month at $729, SteamOS-Based Version to Hit the Market in May
Lenovo’s upcoming gaming handhelds will be arriving on the market soon. There are three different successors to the original Lenovo Legion Go, and the first one to hit the market is reportedly the Lenovo Legion Go S with Windows operating system. The report comes from Micro Center, which reveals that the Windows OS-based Legion Go S will be launching this month for a price of $729.
This particular variant has been in the leaks for a few weeks now and as expected, the console is going to feature the AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor but could get the Z1 Extreme chip as well. The Ryzen Z2 Go will feature Zen 5-based 4 cores and 8 threads and will bring the RDNA 3.5-based Radeon 8x0M iGPU with 12 Compute Units. If it launches with the previous-gen Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, it will get Zen 4-based 8 cores and 16 threads and a Radeon 780M with 12 Compute units.
This one is the slowest handheld among the upcoming Legion handhelds and will feature either 16GB or 32GB LPDDR5X memory. With a screen size of 8.0 inches, the Legion Go S will be a bit smaller than the Legion Go S and will feature a lower resolution of 1920×1200 compared to the 2560x1600p resolution on the latter. This will ensure optimal performance since a 4-core/8-thread CPU isn’t going to cut it at 1600p resolution.
As for the LinuxOS-based Legion Go S handheld, it is expected to launch in May this year and should be a cheaper model with the same specs. Those who are starving for more power and bigger screen size can wait for the Legion Go 2 handheld, featuring Zen 5-based Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, which brings 8 cores and 16 threads and Radeon 890M iGPU with 16 Compute Units. It retains the screen size and resolution of the original Legion Go but will feature an OLED panel for improved visual details.
The Legion GO 2 is also expected in Q1 2025 but the exact month or date is unknown. Similarly, we are yet to hear about its MSRP.
