Intel Arc B580 Fails Miserably in GPU Sales in Germany and Worldwide, Intel Couldn’t Even Grab 1% of GPU Revenue
Intel’s Battlemage discrete GPU, Arc B580 was looking impressive in performance but the same can’t be said for its sales. After about three weeks of launch, we are witnessing the first-ever sales numbers for this GPU. As per the latest sales stats of one of the biggest retailers in Germany, the Intel Arc B580 remains near to the bottom of the GPU list.
Apparently, Intel wasn’t able to sell more than 20 units of Arc B580 in a whole week while AMD and NVIDIA are quite successful even in selling their previous-gen GPUs such as RX 7000 and RTX 3000 series cards. The Arc B580 comes just above the Arc A770, which sold 10 units, followed by RX 6800 XT and Arc A380 with just 5 units. Overall, Intel managed to sell a total of 35 units of all the discrete Arc GPUs combined.
On the other hand, Arc B580’s direct competitors, RX 7600 achieved 30 unit sales and the RTX 4060 sold 100 units in the same time frame. The Arc B580 did sell a good number of units in the first two weeks as we can see both the ASRock Arc B580 sold a total of 210 units in the past three weeks but it has gone significantly down.
All in all, despite a much stronger launch than Alchemist, Arc B580 is failing to attract gamers and this is due to several reasons, which I am going to explain soon. AMD and NVIDIA are the key players in the GPU market and even though the B580 is offering more VRAM than RX 7600 and RTX 4060 at a lower price apart from higher performance, customers trust AMD and NVIDIA GPUs more.
This is quite apparent in the sales stats but one of the major reasons for its current state is the market pricing. On Mindfactory, you may easily find a Radeon RX 7600 for under €300 and the RTX 4060 for just over €300. Both are available via various vendors and are quite abundant. On the other hand, there are currently just two editions of the Arc B580 and both are over €300, which makes the other two quite attractive.
The lack of enough board partners, poor availability, bad current pricing, all are contributing towards bad B580 sales. The GPU has worse availability in NA market where it’s currently almost impossible to find one at the MSRP. So, the argument that the Arc B580 is selling out quite fast seems to be a hoax since the availability is bad enough to get one at MSRP.
At the moment, I can’t find one Arc B580 GPU for less than $350 on Amazon or Newegg, let alone below $300. Most of the Arc B580 editions for <$300 are out of stock on both retailers and many are listed for over $400. While we don’t have the sales stats of the B580 in NA or other parts of the world, I doubt that Intel is able to sell it like hotcakes.
