ASUS Prepares a New GPU Series Called “ASTRAL”, PRIME and TUF Series RTX 5080 16G and RX 9070 XT, RX 9070 are Also Ready
ASUS has been actively preparing its next-gen components. It is now spotted preparing the upcoming NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards belonging to the RTX 50 and RDNA 4 series. The manufacturer is also bringing a brand new family in its GPU lineups called “ASTRAL” and one of the upcoming GPUs has already been listed on two retailers.
The popular leaker @momomo_us listed several new ASUS GPU model names in a recent post, showing what ASUS has prepared for its new catalog based on the Blackwell and RDNA 4 architectures. The GPU list contains RTX 5080 from NVIDIA and the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 from AMD’s RX 9000 series.
- ROG ASTRAL RTX 5080 O16G Gaming
- PRIME RTX 5080 O16G
- TUF RTX 5080 O16G Gaming
- TUF RX 9070 XT O16G Gaming
- TUF RX 9070 O16G Gaming
- PRIME RX 9070 XT O16G
- PRIME RX 9070 O16G
The ROG ASTRAL belongs to the ROG family similar to the STRIX products. Therefore, the ASTRAL RTX 5080 GPU will be an enthusiast-grade edition while the PRIME and TUF series RTX 5080 will be cheaper. For AMD GPUs, ASUS has readied both the flagship NAVI 48-based Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 in the PRIME and TUF series.
At the moment, we can’t find these GPU models on the ASUS website except that the ROG ASTRAL RTX 5080 has already been spotted on two retailers: Intcomex and ELChangarro. The name clearly shows that ASUS indeed has the new ROG ASTRAL family for the upcoming cards and may have prepared more RTX 50 series GPUs in the same family.
The GeForce RTX 5080 is going to be based on the GB203 die and will feature 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM with a 30 Gbps memory bus. It’s going to be the second-fastest in the lineup after the RTX 5090 but will be revealed before the latter at CES 2025. It’s expected that the GPU could cost up to $1500 but that’s just a rumor.
As for the RDNA 4 family, the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 will both feature the same Navi 48 die and are supposed to compete with upper mid-range GPUs from NVIDIA. However, unlike the previous rumor, the RX 9070 supposedly features the same 16 GB VRAM as the XT edition, which means the same 256-bit memory bus.
As for their pricing, the leaks suggest that the RX 9070 and 9070 XT could cost somewhere between $499 and $649. More will be revealed in the coming days.
