AMD Ryzen 5 9600 Page is Now Live on the Website, Ahead of Official Announcement
It was already in the reports that AMD is working on newer Zen 5 desktop CPUs for the AM5 platform and the Ryzen 5 9600 is supposedly the fifth SKU in the series (excluding X3D chips), AMD is expected to launch this month. It looks like AMD has made preparations for the CPU before officially announcing its reveal.
As spotted by @momomo_us, the AMD Ryzen 5 9600 is now listed on AMD’s official website, and the page lists all of its specifications, including the product ID as “100-000000718”. As you would expect, the Ryzen 5 9600 isn’t much different from the Ryzen 5 9600X except that it runs on lower clocks. The Ryzen 5 9600 features the same 6-core/12-thread configuration based on Zen 5 architecture and has a base clock of 3.8 GHz and a boost clock of 5.2 GHz.
Compared to the 9600X, the base/boost clock is 100MHz/200MHz lower but the rest of the specs are identical. This includes an L2 cache of 6MB, an L3 cache of 32MB, and a TDP of 65W. It’s not yet clear whether the Ryzen 5 9600 will be able to run at 105W mode with the latest BIOS versions but we will know about it soon.
The CPU should come out slightly slower in single and multi-threaded performance than the Ryzen 9600X and will have a slightly lower MSRP. At the moment, the Ryzen 5 9600X retails for less than $250 on Amazon even though its launch MSRP was $269. Going by the current pricing trends, the Ryzen 5 9600 could retail for around $220-$240.
One of the biggest changes between these two is that the Ryzen 5 9600 will include a Wraith Stealth CPU cooler in the box, which the Ryzen 9600X misses. This will reduce the overall PC cost and considering how little the difference there is usually between the X and non-X Ryzen variants in gaming, the Ryzen 5 9600 could prove to be a great alternative to the Ryzen 5 7600X. Expect the Ryzen 5 9600 to hit the shelves later this month or a bit later after revelation.
