AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Rumored To Launch In March Alongside ASUS Crosshair X870E APEX Motherboard

The 16-core Zen 5 Monster is Coming Soon!

AMD is Reportedly Launching Ryzen 9 9950X3D in March, Aimed at High-Performance Gaming and Productivity PCs

AMD yesterday launched its flagship CPU in the Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 lineup at CES, namely, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D as the fastest gaming and productivity CPU. It succeeds the Ryzen 9 7950X3D from the Zen 4 lineup and brings faster Zen 5 architectured cores for improved performance. Equipped with 3D V-Cache technology, the CPU is currently the fastest chip one can buy.

While AMD only did a reveal at CES, the pricing and availability are unknown. However, the popular leaker @momomo_us states that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D will be available for purchase in March. The price is the only thing that remains hidden but should be soon out. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D was launched at $699 and considering that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D was priced higher than the 7800X3D, the 7950X3D could see a similar pricing compared.

Still, one should expect the 9950X3D to be priced at around $649 as its non-X3D variant was launched at this price. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D was launched at the same MSRP as the non-X3D variant and therefore, AMD isn’t likely going to increase the price of the Ryzen 9950X3D over the 9950X. Currently, the Ryzen 9950X retains at $50 lower than its launch MSRP, similar to other non-X3D Ryzen 9000 chips.

The leaker also said that the ASUS Crosshair X870E APEX will launch in March as well. This is a pretty good high-end X870E motherboard for CPU and memory overclocking, packed with modern connectivity and incredibly good component support. Nonetheless, users can install the Ryzen 9 9950X3D on any 600 or 800-chipset but there are some solid high-end boards already present on the market offering even better specs than the APEX.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D offers 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads with a base/boost clock of 4.3/5.7 GHz and a total L3 cache of 128MB. There are two CCDs with 8-cores on each but a single CCD brings the V-Cache chiplet. The CPU is rated at 170W and is identical to the non-X3D in specs except for the L3 cache.
