AMD RX 9070 XT Rumored to Cost up to $649 with Performance Faster Than RX 7900 GRE While RX 9070 will Compete with RX 7800 XT

Doesn't look too exciting

The RDNA 4 GPUs are supposedly on par with the existing upper mid-range RX 7000 cards and will bring a lackluster price-to-performance ratio compared to what we expected. Currently, the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 are the only two cards that are worthy of competing against NVIDIA’s mid-range GPUs.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT can cost up to $649 but based on the specs, could be as low as $449

Another big news is here! Even though a rumor at the moment, could come out to be true based on what we have been hearing in the past days. I have just published the news about the AMD RX 9000 naming convention with Navi 48 and Navi 44 GPU die memory configurations and just now, the same leaker has provided us with the latest information, which reveals the GPUs’ supposed pricing and performance equivalents.

As per the leaker, @All_The_Watts, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT will be slower than the RX 7900 XT, which is an RDNA 3 GPU and the second fastest in the RX 7000 lineup. However, the RX 9070 XT will be faster than the RX 7900 GRE, which uses the same Navi 31 die as the RX 7900 XT but is closer to the RX 7800 XT in performance than the RX 7900 XT.

Navi 48 and Navi 44 pricing and performance rumor

Since RX 9070 is said to be equivalent to the RX 7800 XT, we have two upper mid-range GPUs, which won’t be competing against NVIDIA’s RTX 4080 card but the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Super. If this is true then the price will decide whether the RX 9070 GPUs will bring something new to the table or they will suffer the same fate as the previous generation with NVIDIA taking the lead in both performance numbers and GPU sales.

As per the rumored pricing, the Navi 48-based RX 9070 cards can cost anywhere from $449 to $649. If the RX 9070 XT is the flagship GPU in the RDNA 4 lineup with a price of $599-$649, it is going to bring somewhat the same price-to-performance ratio as the RX 7900 GRE but somewhat better than the RX 7900 XT. The case will be similar to the RX 9070, which if priced at $449-$500 will be equivalent to the RX 7800 XT in value but since the latter has dropped in price and is already an older card, the RX 9070 may not be a good replacement at all.

Do take these pricing and performance numbers with some salt but as per AMD’s history of previous-gen GPUs, it has failed multiple times to bring something exciting, which has let NVIDIA rule over the GPU market for so long. As for the budget and lower-end cards based on the Navi 44 die, the pricing is said to be in the $179-$349 range. Even the upper-end card is said to feature no higher than a 128-bit bus while the entry-level Navi 44 GPUs will bring a 96-bit memory bus width.

This once again seems similar to the RX 7600 GPUs but hopefully, the power consumption has been reduced noticeably for both Navi 48 and Navi 44 GPUs as has been rumored.
