AMD and its partners are officially launching their A620 chipset motherboards supporting Zen 4-based Ryzen 7000 CPUs.
AMD will now ship their budget A620 motherboards for Ryzen 7000 CPUs starting from as low as <$100 which is cheaper than what it initially promised. Manufacturers including ASRock, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, and Biostar all announced their A620 motherboard models and their specifications.
A620 chipset will feature basic functionality such as support for PCI-E 4.0 standard, USB 3.2 Gen 1 and 2.0 ports, at least one M.2 connector, and one PCI-E x16 slot for the graphics card.
Unlike B550 and X670, it won’t support CPU overclocking but will support EXPO technology for memory overclocking which was absent in A320 and A520 chipset motherboards.
ASRock A620 Motherboards
ASRock reveals four motherboard models that will feature both 2 and 4 DIMM layout options. Its A620M Pro RS is probably the best DDR5-friendly motherboard that features 4x DIMM slots and offers a good number of USB ports including Type-C ports for both rear and front panels.
It will also feature 3x M.2 connectors two of which support PCI-E Gen4 x4 standard to give multiple storage options. Apart from that the A620M Pro RS WiFi also features a WiFi 6E for those opting for wireless connections.
Other motherboards include the ASRock A620M-HDV/M.2+ and the A620M-HDV/M.2 each model has 2x DIMMs and almost the same specs except for the VRM which is better on the M.2+ with 6+1+1 power phases.
Both models will feature 2x M.2 Key-M for NVME SSDs, USB 3.2 Type-C, and Dr.MOS design for better thermal efficiency.
ASUS A620 Motherboards
Asus gives three different A620 motherboard models with two of them sharing the same specs except for one additional feature on the other.
Two identical models are the TUF Gaming A620M-Plus and TUF Gaming A620M-Plus WiFi. Both of them feature 4x DIMM slots that support up to 128GB DDR5 memory overclocked up to 6400MHz, 1 PCI-E x16 4.0 slot for GPU, 2x PCI-E x1 3.0 slots for expansion cards, 2x M.2 slots and 4x SATA connectors for storage, 1x Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet, 4x USB 2.0/2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports at the rear, and a total of 7 USB ports for the front panel.
The A620M-Plus WiFi features WiFi 6 for wireless internet connectivity and Bluetooth v5.3. The third model is the Asus Prime A620M-A featuring 4x DIMM slots, 1 PCI-E x16 slot for GPU, 2x PCI-E x1 slots for expansion cards, 2x M.2 slots for NVME SSDs, and 4x SATA ports for SATA drives.
Gigabyte A620 Motherboards
Gigabyte provides two motherboards- A620M Gaming X AX and A620M Gaming X, both of them featuring a similar design but the AX version features an inbuilt WiFi adapter.
There is a strong 8+2+1 power phase digital VRM on both boards, 4x DIMM slots for DDR5 6400MHz memories, 1x PCI-E x16 slot for GPU, 1x PCI-E x1 slot for the expansion card, 1x M.2 connector for NVME SSD, 4x SATA ports for storage, and a Realtek 1Gb LAN.
MSI A620 Motherboards
MSI launches just one A620 motherboard model, the Pro A620M-E which features a very basic design with 2x DIMM slots, 1x PCI-E x16 slot, 1x PCI-E x1 slot, 4x SATA and 1x M.2 slots for storage drives.
Biostar A620 Motherboards
Finally, Biostar reveals its A620MP-E Pro motherboard with 10 power phases and good 4x DIMM slots to support up to 6000MHz of clock speed. There is a single PCI-E x16 slot for the graphics cards, 2x PCI-E x1 slots for expansion cards, 1x M.2 connector for NVME SSD, and 4x SATA ports for SATA drives.
